কুয়েতেস্থ বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস ১৬ এপ্রিল ২০২৫ তারিখে বাংলাদেশের ৫৪তম স্বাধীনতার বর্ষপূর্তি ও জাতীয় দিবস উদযাপনের জন্য ক্রাউন প্লাজা হোটেলে এক জমকালো সংবর্ধনার আয়োজন করে। কুয়েতে নিযুক্ত বিভিন্ন দেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত, কূটনৈতিক মিশনের সদস্য, কুয়েতের উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তা ও গণ্যমান্য ব্যক্তিবর্গ, কুয়েতে অবস্থিত বাংলাদেশ মিলিটারি কন্টিনজেন্ট এর সদস্যবৃন্দ, স্থানীয় এবং প্রবাসী গণমাধ্যমকর্মী এবং বাংলাদেশ কমিউনিটির সদস্যসহ মোট ৪০০ জনেরও বেশী অতিথি উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠানে সম্মানিত প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন কুয়েতের বিচারবিষয়ক মন্ত্রী জনাব নাসের ইউসুফ মোহাম্মদ আল-সুমাইত। কুয়েতে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত মেজর জেনারেল সৈয়দ তারেক হোসেন, ওএসপি, এডব্লিউসি, পিএসসি, দূতাবাসের অন্যান্য কর্মকর্তা ও তাঁদের স্ত্রীগণ সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠানে আগত অতিথিদের স্বাগত জানান।

বাংলাদেশ ও কুয়েতের জাতীয় সঙ্গীতের মাধ্যমে বর্ণাঢ্য সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয়। রাষ্ট্রদূত মেজর জেনারেল সৈয়দ তারেক হোসেন তাঁর স্বাগত ভাষণে অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত থাকার জন্য সম্মানিত প্রধান অতিথির প্রতি আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেন। তিনি কুয়েতে বসবাসরত প্রবাসী বংলাদেশীদের প্রতি অব্যাহত সহযোগিতার জন্য কুয়েতের মহামহিম আমির শেখ মিশাল আল-আহমদ আল-জাবের আল-সাবাহ, কুয়েতের শীর্ষ নেতৃবৃন্দ এবং কুয়েতের জনগণের প্রতি গভীর কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেন।

রাষ্ট্রদূত তাঁর বক্তব্যে উল্লেখ করেন, স্বাধীনতার পর কুয়েতই প্রথম উপসাগরীয় দেশ যেটি বাংলাদেশকে স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করে। ১৯৭৪ সালে কূটনৈতিক সম্পর্ক প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকে বাংলাদেশ এবং কুয়েত রাজনৈতিক, বাণিজ্য ও বিনিয়োগ, জনশক্তি, কৃষি, শিক্ষা এবং প্রতিরক্ষা খাত সহ বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে চমৎকার দ্বিপাক্ষিক সম্পর্ক বজায় রেখেছে। তিনি আশা প্রকাশ করেন, কুয়েতের মহামহিম আমির শেখ মিশাল আল-আহমদ আল-জাবের আল-সাবাহ এবং বাংলাদেশের মাননীয় প্রধান উপদেষ্টা নোবেল বিজয়ী ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের গতিশীল ও দূরদর্শী নেতৃত্বে দুই বন্ধুপ্রতীম দেশের মধ্যে দ্বিপাক্ষিক সম্পর্ক নতুন উচ্চতায় পৌছাবে।

১৯৭১ সালের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সকল মুক্তিযোদ্ধা এবং শহীদদের প্রতি রাষ্ট্রদূত গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জ্ঞাপন করেন। তাঁর বক্তব্যে স্বাধীনতার পর থেকে বাংলাদেশের অগ্রগতি ও উন্নয়নের অসাধারণ অগ্রযাত্রা তথা আর্থ-সামাজিক অগ্রগতিতে বাংলাদেশের উল্লেখযোগ্য অর্জনের বিষয় তুলে ধরেন। এছাড়াও তরুনদের নেতৃত্বে ২০২৪ সালের জুলাই-আগস্টে সংঘটিত গণঅভ্যুত্থানের কথা উল্লেখ করে তিনি একটি ন্যায়সঙ্গত, স্বচ্ছ এবং জবাবদিহিতামূলক সমাজের আকাঙ্ক্ষাকে সমুন্নত রাখা এবং দেশের গণতান্ত্রিক রীতিনীতিকে প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক রূপ দিতে এই অভ্যুত্থানের ভূমিকার উপর গুরুত্ব আরোপ করেন।

এছাড়াও রাষ্ট্রদূত তাঁর বক্তব্যে ৭ থেকে ১০ এপ্রিল, ২০২৫ তারিখে ঢাকায় অনুষ্ঠিত বিনিয়োগ বিষয়ক শীর্ষ সম্মেলন যেখানে ৫০টি দেশের প্রায় ৪২৫ জন বিনিয়োগকারী অংশগ্রহণ করেন, সেই প্রসঙ্গের অবতারণা করে কুয়েত এবং অন্যান্য বন্ধুপ্রতিম দেশকে বাংলাদেশের বিশেষ অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলে বিনিয়োগ এবং পারস্পরিক প্রবৃদ্ধি ও সমৃদ্ধির অংশীদার হওয়ার জন্য আমন্ত্রণ জানান। তিনি বাংলাদেশের পর্যটন খাতের উপরও আলোকপাত করেন এবং বাংলাদেশের নৈসর্গিক প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য ও আতিথেয়তা উপভোগের জন্য সকলকে বাংলাদেশ সফরের আমন্ত্রণ জানান। সমাপনী বক্তব্যে রাষ্ট্রদূত কুয়েতে বসবাসরত প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদেরকে দেশের উন্নয়ন অগ্রযাত্রায় তাদের অবদানের প্রয়াস অব্যাহত রাখার আহ্বান জানান।

Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait hosted a grand reception on 16 April 2025 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to celebrate the 54th anniversary of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh. Over 400 guests attended the event, including ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in Kuwait, high-ranking Kuwaiti officials and dignitaries, members of the Bangladesh Military Contingent, representatives from the local press and media, and members of the Bangladeshi community in Kuwait. His Excellency Mr. Nasser Yousef Mohammed Al-Sumait, the Minister of Justice of the State of Kuwait graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. His Excellency Major General Syed Tareq Hussain, OSP, awc, psc, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Kuwait, along with other Embassy officials and their spouses, warmly welcomed the guests.
The colourful reception programme began with the national anthems of Bangladesh and Kuwait. In his welcome address, Ambassador Major General Syed Tareq Hussain expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Guest of Honour for attending the celebration. He also conveyed deep appreciation to the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to the leadership and people of Kuwait for their continuous support to the Bangladeshi community residing in the country.

In his speech, the Ambassador underscored that Kuwait was the first Gulf country to recognize Bangladesh following its independence in 1971. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974, Bangladesh and Kuwait have enjoyed robust cooperation in various fields, including political, trade and investment, manpower, agriculture, education, and defence. He expressed hope that under the dynamic and visionary leadership of the Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Honourable Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the bilateral relations will continue to flourish and reach at new heights.
The Ambassador paid homage to the freedom fighters and martyrs of 1971 liberation war of Bangladesh. The Ambassador also highlighted Bangladesh’s remarkable journey of progress and development since its independence, noting significant achievements in socio-economic advancement. He also mentioned about the July-August 2024 mass uprising led by the young generation and emphasized its role in upholding the aspirations of an equitable, transparent, and accountable society and to institutionalise the democratic norms in the country.

Referring to the recently held Investment Summit in Dhaka from April 7 to 10, 2025 where 425 delegates from 50 countries participated, the Ambassador invited Kuwait and other friendly nations to invest in Bangladesh’s Special Economic Zones and share in the mutual growth and prosperity. He also emphasized the potential of Bangladesh’s tourism sector, portraying it as a land of natural beauty and warm hospitality. He encouraged everyone to visit Bangladesh and experience its charm firsthand. In his concluding remarks, the Ambassador urged the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Kuwait to continue their efforts of contributing wholeheartedly to the development of Bangladesh.
